September 2017: The Microsoft #PatentProgram has released their feature about our work!
August 2017: Jessica and Charlene have been featured in MIT News for summer development at the MIT Engine.
June 2017: Our team has graduated from MIT! We will continue to develop Tactile and will be working at the new MIT Engine space over the summer.
May 2017: We have won Lemelson-MIT for Tactile's innovation. A big thanks to everyone who is following our progress and for sharing our story. The positive feedback drives our passion and work everyday <3.
April 2017: The amazing team at Fusion came to film our development.
March 2017: Our team visited the Carroll Center for the Blind to do some user testing and interviews.
February 2017: We are working on our fifth prototype of tactile! This is the first prototype in where we have a our camera and refreshable braille display fully integrated. The size of our braille cell has shrunk down to 4x the standard. We are continuing to scale down our cells and improve our text recognition system.
February 2016: We are featured by Mashable!
December 2016: We are listed as one of the top 100 2016 Global Thinkers by the Foreign Policy Magazine. Our team is invited in D.C. to accept our award and meet other inspirational Global Thinkers from all around the world.
August 2016: We have been selected to be a part of Microsoft's Patent Program. Tactile is on its way to be patented.
May 2016: We have have received an additional $10,000 development grant from the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund. We look forward to the mentorship provided by the Sandbox community.
April 2016: We are excited to announce that Tactile has been award a $10,000 grant from the MIT Ideas Global Challenge to continue development. Thank you!
March 2016: We are selected as finalists for the Microsoft Imagine Cup and will be heading to San Francisco to attend Microsoft Build and to present Tactile.
February 2016: Tactile is created. First place finish at MakeMIT with Microsoft sponsorship prize!
